Description: Miscellaneous type. When a foolish man must keep house and take care of the animals, he causes a series of accidents: He scalds his mother (grandmother) by bathing her in boiling water [K1462] (cf. Type 1013). He smothers her when he tries to feed her and kills the baby (by feeding it hot porridge) [K1461]. He kills an animal which is eaten by crows, and then demands that they pay for it (cf. Type 1642). He tries to hatch eggs (cf. Type 1218), and kills an old woman who scolds him for his mistakes, etc. Cf. Types 1218, 1408, 1681, and 1681A.

Combinations: This type is usually combined with one or more other types, esp. 1000, 1007, 1009, 1013, 1029, 1218, 1291A, 1408, 1586, 1642, 1653, 1685, and 1696.
